Another SIU Alumni Gathering at Hussin-Noraini’s Daughter Wedding
May 3, 2012 by akarimomar
Last Labor Day was another mini-gathering for many of us who attended Hussin Mohd Ali and Noraini Ahmad’s daughter, Sakina, wedding reception at Felda Perdana. The last similar reception was for their son, Lokman (read).
The time was too short for a real gathering (as we all have to rush for our Zohor) and during such a formal function we could not catch up much. But I managed to take some photos to be shared with others.
Hussin Mohd Ali and Noraini Ahmad
.
Sharing the same table with me was Moslim Jaafar, my former housemate in The Pyramids.
.
Also sharing the same table, but I have to apologise, I forgot to note down their names during the brief intro as we get seated. Maybe I can get some help from the readers.
.
The two other tables next. Most front is Zaid Shaaya Bashir, Zayadi (hidden by Zaid), his wife, Shah and his wife. The far end table face visible, from most left (anti-clockwise) is Hazimi Batir Ali, Reza Zek, Saupi and wife.
.
From left: Ahmad Zamri Said, Abdul Mukhsin Ahmad Tajuddin, Mohd Saupi Pauzi and his wife.
.
Shah and his wife
.
From Left: Reza Zek, Hazimi, Rosli and wife
.
From left: Zaid, Zayadi and his wife and Shah’s wife.
I finally managed to get help for my own photo to be in with Mukhsin and Saufi.
.
One last pose as the function ended. From right – Zayadi, myself, Zambri Saupi, Rosli Ibrahim and Zaid.
.
Moslim Jaafar, myself, Zambri Tenang with Shuki Osman (standing). I have been housemates with all of them. Shuki is married to Noraini’s younger sister
It is unfortunate that I was not able to take the photos of Abdul Rahim Ahmad, busy playing the host supporting role. Rahim as many would have know is the younger brother of Noraini.
My apology for not able to take photos of everybody, remembering the names and spelling them correctly. It has been almost three decades friends …
Assalamualaikum. with reference to the 3 rd photo, the guy in the blue baju melayu wearing glasses is Dollah. We called him “Dollah Dolly” then. He was part of the group that came to SIU, Carbondale in 1981 along with A Aziz Ismail. Ramlan Ahmad, Bakhtiar, Zainal Hayatuddin and Zaiton Mat Ali. We lost contact with him after leaving SIU. Nice to see old friends. The rest of the guests must be from the group that arrived in Carbondale after 1982. Most of us left for other parts of the States to continue for our Masters or returned home to Malaysia.
The speech given by Hussein was just beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes. The love of a father to their kids and the love of a husband to his wife. I felt like I was taken back to carbondale and we dropped by to visit Norainin during maternity leave and taking care of Luqman and the baby. Such sacrifice from a wife. May theu live happily ever after, Ani and Hussein; and Abdullah and Sakinah!! btw, sad that we didnt get to meet the other Salukis. We came in late and were ushered to the fron table. Whatever it is, we had a good time. Got to meet Jen, Reza and Mokhsin. Also Dollah who has the look of who is this lady. Anyway, tak pe. Old age does that to us kan. Tq Karim for posting the pictures.
Warm regards from me and mat nal Kajang!
